Artificial intelligence policy
This policy establishes rules for the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies during the preparation, submission, and review of manuscripts in accordance with the principles of academic integrity, scientific responsibility, and transparency. The policy is based on the experience of international publishers and professional organisations such as the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), Springer Nature, and Elsevier.
Authors should only use AI technologies in the preparation of manuscripts to check and improve grammar, style, and linguistic accuracy of the text, search for literary sources, create illustrative materials (diagrams, charts, visualisations) if their use does not distort the scientific content, auxiliary calculations, and data analysis.
It is categorically unacceptable for authors to use AI technology to write the text of an article in its entirety or a significant portion thereof without substantial intellectual contribution on the part of the author, to generate research data or results, to automatically create references or lists of references in order to avoid fictitious or incorrect sources, or to automatically rewrite other authors' texts (plagiarism) – this can call into question the originality, reliability or scientific integrity of the paper.
Authors are fully responsible for the content of the article, regardless of the use of AI systems. Artificial intelligence systems cannot be recognised as authors or co-authors of the article.
Authors are obliged to indicate all AI tools used in the writing of the article in the ‘Materials and Methods’ section, describing the specific purpose and scope of their application. The policy applies to all materials submitted to the journal (texts, tables, figures, databases, literary sources, etc.) if AI tools were used at any stage of their preparation.
Concealing or failing to disclose information regarding the use of artificial intelligence systems to generate text, images or other content in a manuscript is considered a serious ethical violation. Authors are obligated to clearly and transparently disclose any use of AI tools. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in the rejection of the manuscript.
